Hi folks,

We have again organized an NSC Junior Regatta for Monday, September 5 at 1000 hrs at the lake. The idea is to get the kids out sailing in a fun and instructional "racing" format.  All are welcome and volunteers appreciated.  Please see the attached NOR for more information.

Part 3

Part 2:  Monday was scheduled to be day one of the qualifiers but severe storms from the  outer bands of hurricane Alex kept the fleet in port waiting for a break in the weather.  Without a moment lost Sam joined a group of other juniors gathering empty cups, cans, tape and string and before you know it a beer-can boat design and build challenge was on and the pool races began to the delight of the fleet

Part 1:  Sam and I arrived Saturday at Bay Waveland Yacht club after a nice uneventful trip down with a lunch stop to see Natural Bridge, VA, an overnight in Knoxville, TN and audiobooks to keep us entertained.  The clubhouse is big and beautiful with an incredible view of the bay, and today with a light breeze and flat water the sailing conditions were welcoming.  We set up the boat, explored club and met other sailors preparing for tomorrows Juniors race.  Down the road to our hotel we passed by miles of beautiful white sand beaches and calm waters.  Rac
