Com-Pac Fleet

The Com-Pac fleet at Lake Nockamixon is the newest fleet in the Nockamixon Sail Club. It's inception began this past summer 2009.

Currently there are 4 NSCPA members that own Com-pac Yachts, two Com-Pac 19s and two Com-Pac 23s. There are a number of other Com-Pac Yachts on the lake, ranging in size from 16 feet to 23 feet. Most are sloop rigged but there is also at least one catboat on the lake. The entire Com-Pac line ranges from 14 feet up to 35 feet, and some of the smaller vessels have made blue water passages to the Bahamas and back.

The Hutchins Company was founded in 1957 in Clearwater, Florida. They became known as Com Pac Yachts in 1974 when they put the Com Pac 16, designed by Clark Mills, on the market. Their goal was to offer a line of solidly built cruisers which ultimately went from 14’ to 35’. The CP 16 was an immediate success and the CP 23 followed shortly. Bob Johnson, who now designs for Island Packet Yachts, designed the CP 19 in the early 80’s. (See the Com Pac web site for more information)

Hutchins Yachts is known for building high quality, sturdy and fine sailing boats. Lake Nockamixon has been home to many CP 16’s, 19’s and 23’s over the years plus the newer Com Pac line of 17’ and 20’ Cat Boats. They also make a new 16.5’ Sloop and a 21’ Sloop.

The Com-Pacs have reputation for stability and seaworthiness and are very well built, and have a large following.

We would like to invite other Com-Pac owners to join our group. So if there is anyone out there that would like to join , or if you know of someone who owns one of these fine boats, please contact Bill Pfanstiel at admhornblower@hotmail.com.
