Santana 2023R will be getting a new patch of Gel Coat in the next few weeks.  1) Will be very hard to do with the cold weather and 2) Have not done it before to this scale.  We have downloaded a few YouTube sessions on the topic that really help and have tested the process in the basement.

The gunwale railing has been ordered, received and rolled out to remove the curl.  The inside deck work is done and just needs a new coat of color.

If you have any thoughts or words of wisdom reply to this thread.  Gel Coat 101 is ready to start.  A hot box is being formed to help with the outdoor cure.  This process we used when we made the new centerboard a few years back.  1-inch hardfoam board, a small space heater and you have a low cost hot box.

Will keep posting as we progress through the repairs.

YouTube has many topics - sail making, RC boat building and sailing, sailing how to's, and other great topics like RC soaring and Hi Start launching versus winch launching, etc.

Enjoy

P.S. Will post another maintenance topic relating to bottom painting and a levered sander for right-side up upside down sanding a hull bottom.  Got that?

Hot Box

Sounds like fun!

Do you think maintaining the temperature uniformity in the hot box will be difficult?  If not is ventilation a problem?

I look forward to seeing a photo of your right-side up upside down contraption!
