Memorial Day Flag Parade followed by Raft-up and Picnic

Mon, 05/31/2010 - 12:00pm

I like Raft up event captain, Jim Thompson’s plan to have an on the water raft up better than my suggestion to meet up on my boat in I-dock after the Memorial Day parade, so let’s all meet up with Jim for an on the water raft up after the parade.  I will still bring free cake.

Happy sailing,

Mike Brown

Hi NSC Sailors,

Are you wondering what might be on schedule for Memorial Day? Well here is the good news. We will have a flag parade at 12PM led by Mike Brown on the Mighty Superna. So hoist up the stars and stripes and or that pirate flag and join in the parade around the marina and up to the fishing pier and back. Then while our boats are all pretty, we shall raft up and have lunch aboard. Everyone is to bring your own food and drink. Look for my green catalina 22 Double Trouble and come along side. About every 4th boat can drop an anchor. After we have lunch we can drop the flags, raise sails and sail away to your chosen destination. Come one and all. See you on the water.

Please join us as we celebrate Memorial Day by decorating our sailboats with flags and we wear red white and blue and motor to the fishing pier and back.  It is fun to see all the decorated boats and wave at the onlookers on  shore.  This is a great opportunity to take pictures and get the family and friends involved.  After the parade and we have put our boats away, everyone is invited to meet up at my sailboat in I-19 for some free cake.  I would guess that this will probably be around 1:15-1:30 PM.  You may want to bring a chair to sit on the dock near my boat since space is limited.
