Permanon for Chalky Fiberglass

By glennw_su - Posted on 21 September 2009

I was getting frustrated with how chalky my top sides fiberglass have become. In a recent visit to West Marine, I mentioned it to the sales associated.

He suggested I contact 'Captain Dave' who creates many boat treatment products.

Captain Dave told me of a wonderful new product he just started reselling: Permanon. Since it was not very expensive I tried it.

Like painting the application process is trivial but the surface preparation is the real trick. I concentrated on the seats of my Scot, buffing them to as much a shine as I could. I then simply wiped on the Permanon with a microfiber towel.

The instructions said to put on a light shiny coat and not rub it in.

And, son of gun, it works. My seats have not had the chalky feeling and stayed relatively scuff free this season!

Nice to know!
