Portsmouth Fleet 2010

The NSC Portsmouth fleet has a great season planned for 2010 - check out the racing dates below. Attached is our Supplement to the NSC Sailing Instructions for 2010. 
 
The NSC Portsmouth fleet has exciting news!  Have you considered racing but were not sure it fits your sailing?  Well in 2010, the fleet is offering to any member of NSC the opportunity to try racing without a major commitment of your time and dollars.  For 2010, a cruising member can join the Portsmouth fleet in one of the series scheduled by the fleet for only $10 and up to five race dates.

FAQ's

- Will all of the regular Portsmouth participants be sailing this same format, or separately on the regular coarse?

Portsmouth fleet racing uses the same race marks as the other One-Design fleets.
Any member or guest joining the Portsmouth fleet for racing will use the standard
race marks except for one course that will be a long distance format to the
Fishing Pier and back.

- Will this be a single race such as ULDB, or a set of two, or three races?

Each Portsmouth fleet race day will have three races, if weather allows.
Two races will be around the marks and third can be a long distance format.

- Is the scoring going to be straight up D-PN, or with the addition of a moving average, like Wednesdays?

The Portsmouth fleet uses standard US Sailing Portsmouth D-PN. Options for
non-spinnaker is applied for boats not equipped. We try to keep the scoring
simple. The Wednesday scoring is reserved for sailing on Wednesday evenings only.

 
 
Brochures
The fleet has developed some brochures to help a skipper understand the racing format used at NSC.  Each brochure details a part of the racing experience.  Check on a link to open the brochure, read it and print it for using it later.  Where else can you get $10 worth of nautical gear or a nautical experience?  Only ay NSC.
