Introduction to Celestial Navigation.

Have you wondered what Celestial navigation is all about?  Do you have a sextant sitting on a shelf gathering dust?  If you are interested in learning what Celestial navigation is about and how a sextant is used then please join me this Saturday 21 August at 4:30 PM where we will discuss Celestial navigation and use of the sextant.  Celestial navigation is a complex process and learning how to use a sextant to navigate at sea is well beyond the scope of a Sail & Learn.  We will however have time to give a quick overview so those in attendance can get the idea of what is involved in Celestial navigation and decide if they might want to study it further.  After a short presentation I will also demonstrate use of a sextant.  Please feel free to bring your own sextant to this Sail & Learn in order to show it off or get help in how to use it.  This Sail & Learn will take place in the Nockamixon State Park, Environmental Education Center.  To get to the Ed Center please enter the park at the marina entrance on Harrisburg School Rd. and take it until it ends.  Then turn right and park in lot 12.  Then walk through the woods on the path to the Education Center.

Happy sailing,

Mike Brown
