How to Handle Boating Emergencies discussion.

This week’s topic is Emergencies on Lake Nockamixon.  We will meet in the trailer parking lot near the picnic tables.  You may think that it is perfectly safe on Lake Nockamixon but I believe there are many dangers to consider as listed below.  You never know when danger may strike.   Please see attached a picture of an unsuspecting sailboat in grave danger.  Could this picture have been taken near the dam?  Perhaps some of the bryozoans from the fall have hatched.   Please bring a lawn chair, a cold drink, and some finger foods to share while we have a lively discussion and presentation on how to handle real emergencies we all might encounter on the lake.

       Capsizing

       Broaching

       Falling Overboard

       Hypothermia (not this month)

       Running Aground

       Leaks and Sinking

       Dismasting

       Fires

       Collisions

       Engine Problems

       Health related problems

This 'Sail and Learn' session presented by the Nockamixon Sail Club Crusing Fleet will be held under the NSC Club Tent located near the marina launch ramp parking.  Members of the general public are invited to join us.
