Is there an environmentally friendly cleaner to for the decks and seating surfaces?  I assume there are strict rules about not letting anything toxic get into the lake.  Even if you wipe off all the residue of whatever cleaning agent, there may be something that makes its way into the water.

Suggestions

Extracted from an article on the Chesapeake:

Clean Gently

  • Wash boat frequently with a sponge and plain water

  • Use phosphate-free, biodegradable and non-toxic cleaners (use detergents sparingly)

  • Wax boat regularly -- a good coat of wax prevents surface dirt from becoming ingrained

  • Clean wood with mild soap powder and nylon brush -- not harsh chemical cleaners

  • Conserve water -- use spray nozzle on hose

Not sure if it is the best but I use Bon Ami and have found articles on its use in the 'eco world.'  Others include baking soda and vinegar.  Careful on other products like from 3M that claim to be 'marine products' as they can contain specific chemicals both harmful to humans and the environment. Simple Green is okay, not the best, but okay.
